Baca and her team could track real-time asset locations, quantities, and users from any computer or mobile device with web browser capabilities. “It has been extremely helpful to know where everything is,” says Baca, referring to the mobile reporting capabilities of BarCloud. “Even though we are a small non-profit, we are very busy and it’s great that I can look up an iPad or communication device from where ever I am.”
Beyond simply checking in and out of assistive technology, the organization could also assign due dates and attach images and personalized notes to asset files in the system. For example, if a parent or school were to request a certain device for a child, Down Syndrome Connection can easily insert text instructions in the asset file so that the device is available to be picked up or shipped without any mishaps.
